fingerprint.wtf

Bake an inaudible, hard-to-strip text fingerprint into any audio file — or check whether a file already has one hidden inside it.

Check for a fingerprint.wtf fingerprint

Only detects fingerprints baked with this tool — not other watermarking or fingerprinting systems.

Scanning for a fingerprint… this reads the file blind, so it takes a few seconds.

Embedding… this can take a little while on longer messages.

A lot of people assume a hidden audio fingerprint is just an inaudible tone sitting off in some ignorable frequency band — something a de-noise plugin or a quick EQ sweep in your DAW could just filter out. That's not how this works. There's no separate "watermark layer" bolted on top of the track for a filter to isolate and strip. The message is woven directly into the track's own timing and amplitude structure — indistinguishable from the audio's natural characteristics unless you know exactly what pattern to look for. That's what makes this kind of technique fundamentally different from noise-band watermarking, and much harder to remove by accident, or by naively "cleaning" a file.
